On April 21, Haileybury Almaty held a wonderful holiday celebrating the arrival of spring – Nauryz!

This year, particular emphasis was placed on the traditions of our ethnically diverse and culturally rich community. The students, parents and teachers took part in the national costume parade.

Each House ran charity stalls full of beautiful crafts; handicraftsmen were selling their artworks, and every guest was able to visit a real Kazakh yurt and get acquainted with the national culture.

Many students showed off their musical and dancing talents during the concert and wowed the audience when they showed off their incredible skills, including dombra performance, folk songs and dances. All comers cheered up and took part in national games such as rope pulling, ‘Asyk’, and traditionally were offered dishes of national Kazakh cuisine at the dastarkhan!

It was a fantastic day! Well done Haileyburians!
