Friday 24 May was the morning of the Year 5 and 6 Sports day. Once again the weather was beautiful as our pupils embarked on a 3 hour track and field Sports Day Programme.
The Year 5 and 6 Sports Day differs from our other Sports Days in the lower school in that the pupils select the events they want to compete in and focus on their strengths. They do not participate in an athletics circuit, where all pupils do the same activities which is the format for our Reception and Year 1-4 Sports Days. The Year 5 and 6 Sports Day is also a more competitive event in that pupils can set school records and win medals if they finish in the top 3.
Sign up for the day was spectacular with all our pupils selecting at least 2 events in which to participate in. Many more selected 5 or 6 events and the atmosphere on the Haileybury astro-turf was so positive with pupils and parents from all houses cheering each other on regardless of placing. New School records were set and the final placings were extremely close with Bartle Frere, edging Edmonstone to first place by
Congratulations to everyone who made this such a great morning of athletics!
