Haileybury Almaty is pleased to announce the launch of the 12+ Academic Scholarships Contest for entry into Year 9 in September 2026.

This programme aims to support gifted and motivated pupils who demonstrate strong academic potential and whose families require financial assistance.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:

Kazakhstani citizenship (Kazakh passport)
Age requirement: 13 years old at the start of school (01.09.2026)
Date of birth must fall between 01.09.2012 – 31.08.2013
Academic excellence: Report card average of 4.5 or above over the past two academic years
High level of English proficiency

Scholarship Selection Process

The contest consists of eight stages. All candidates and parents will receive detailed instructions before each stage.

Stage 1 — Online Application (Completed upon registration)

Candidates submit the initial registration form and are officially entered into the contest.

Stage 2 — Document Submission

Deadline: 25 January 2026

Candidates must upload the following documents:

Birth certificate or international passport (to confirm age eligibility)
Report cards for the previous two academic years:
For 2025–2026: report cards for the last two terms
For 2024–2025: full-year report card

Stage 3 — Online Maths Test (Qualifying Round)

Approx. dates: late January – February 2026

Maths test in English (online)
Candidates who do not pass this round will be notified by email
Successful candidates receive an invitation to Stage 4

Stage 4 — Offline Testing at Haileybury Almaty

Mandatory attendance at school (no online alternative)

Candidates take two tests:

1. English Proficiency Test

Duration: 60–90 minutes

Includes:

Multiple-choice questions
Written essay on a given topic

2. Cognitive Abilities Test

Duration: 60–90 minutes

Includes four sections:

English
Mathematics
Verbal reasoning
Non-verbal reasoning

Important:

All tests are in English
The school does not provide any sample tests or example questions
Test results are confidential and not shared with candidates
Candidates receive only a “pass/does not pass” notification

Stage 5 — Means-Testing Documents

Haileybury Almaty awards scholarships to talented students whose families cannot afford full tuition fees.

Only candidates who successfully pass Stages 3 and 4 will be asked to submit documents confirming the family’s financial situation.

There is no need to prepare these documents in advance.

Stage 6 — Final Interview

Candidates who pass all previous stages will be invited to an in-person interview at the school.

The interview topic will be provided in advance
Candidate and at least one parent must be present

Stage 7 — Announcement of Results

The Scholarship Committee reviews all tests, interviews, and documents.

Successful candidates will receive written confirmation of their scholarship award.

All other candidates will also be notified.

Stage 8 — Signing the School Contract

Scholarship winners and their parents are invited to the school to sign the School Contract and complete the enrolment process.

All communication regarding the contest will be sent to the email addresses provided during registration
Attendance at required stages is mandatory
The Scholarship Committee’s decision is final
