This year’s Eco Symposium was inspired by the 2026 Earth Day theme: Our Power, Our Planet.
Our Year 7 and 8 pupils explored how their generation can become the changemakers of the future, beginning with an expert panel featuring guests from Almaty Air Initiative, the UN Environment Programme, and other environmental fields.
Throughout the day, pupils worked on practical sustainability projects with impressive outcomes - from upcycling old clothing to challenge fast fashion, to building a greenhouse for our school garden using recycled plastic bottles.
The symposium was part of Earth Week, during which our whole school community was encouraged to change one small habit each day and reflect on how these choices can become permanent. We also held a week-long recycling competition with Recycle Birge, helping to save over 1,100 kg of waste from landfill.
We are tremendously proud of our pupils’ energy, creativity, and commitment to living more sustainably.
You can also visit the Year 7 and 8 Artivism sculptures at the pop-up exhibition at Grechka Space, 45 Baiseitova Street, until mid-May.
