International Mathematical Olympiad 2026
Amirlan, Year 13, has been selected for the Kazakhstan National Team for the International Mathematical Olympiad 2026.
Amirlan is already a two-time IMO Silver Medallist, and his selection for this year’s national team marks another exceptional milestone in his mathematical journey. Following a highly competitive national selection process, he has earned the opportunity to represent Kazakhstan at one of the world’s most prestigious mathematical competitions.
We are incredibly proud of Amirlan and wish him every success at the IMO 2026.
Balkan Mathematical Olympiad 2026
Gold Medal and 1st Place Overall for Timur M.
We are delighted to celebrate Timur M., Year 13, who won a Gold Medal at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad 2026 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Competing against 147 participants from 24 countries, Timur achieved a perfect score of 40/40, placing 1st overall and helping Team Kazakhstan secure six medals in total.
This is an outstanding achievement on one of the world’s most respected mathematical stages, and a proud moment for Haileybury Almaty and Kazakhstan.
European Mathematical Olympiad 2026
Gold Medal for Erik L.
We warmly congratulate Erik L., Year 12, on winning a Gold Medal at the European Mathematical Olympiad 2026, held in Vilnius, Lithuania.
This year’s olympiad brought together 126 pupils from 19 countries, with Kazakhstan achieving 1st place in the team ranking, earning three gold and two silver medals.
Erik’s achievement is a remarkable reflection of his mathematical talent, discipline and dedication, and we are proud to see him represent both Haileybury Almaty and Kazakhstan on the international stage.
Maclaurin Mathematical Olympiad
Distinction for Seongwon
We are thrilled to celebrate an outstanding achievement by Seongwon, Year 11, who was awarded a Distinction in the Maclaurin Mathematical Olympiad.
The Maclaurin Mathematical Olympiad is a follow-on competition organised by the UK Mathematics Trust. Pupils qualify through excellent results in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge and then complete a demanding two-hour paper of Olympiad-style problems requiring logical proof, creative reasoning and mathematical precision.
Seongwon’s Distinction reflects an excellent level of mathematical ability, perseverance and passion for problem-solving.
Fizmat Elementary Math Olympiad

AIMO Local Round
59 pupils take part in the Asian International Mathematical Olympiad
Haileybury Almaty pupils achieved excellent results in the AIMO Local Round, the first stage of the Asian International Mathematical Olympiad.
This year, 59 pupils from Haileybury Almaty took part, achieving:
1 Gold, 19 Silver, 23 Bronze, 16 Merit Awards
A special congratulations goes to Dias B., who achieved a Gold Award with an outstanding score of 95.
The AIMO Local Round serves as the qualifying stage for the AIMO Final, which will take place offline in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 31 July to 7 August.
