6 weeks ago we started running the Climate Action Project along with more than 2.7 million other pupils around the world in more than 140 countries, where our Year 12 and 13 Scholars have been working twice a week with our Y7,8 and 9 pupils to educate them about the climate crisis under our guidance.
Climate Action Day is the culmination of this project and was live streamed in Glasgow at the COP26 summit, and featured a message from Prince William.
At school, during the day we had talks with the entire senior school about the Climate Action Project, about COP26 and we showed the Race is on, a fantastic documentary that explains why we have the solutions already and why we all are the most important people to implement them. We finished by looking at the latest positive commitments from the Kazakh government to achieve net zero by 2060.
Finally we celebrated being named as a “Climate Action Schools of Excellence”.by the Climate Action Project, one of only 250 worldwide! This award sponsored by Cartoon Network of a Plaque, Digital Badge and Certificate also comes with the promise of work directly with Cartoon Network in the future.
We are now looking to turn the great work so far into a term of Action by working with our Scholars and pupils on developing Sustainable projects in school and our local community.
