Haileybury Almaty offers all high school pupils to participate in the English Olympiad held in English in February, 2019. It is held specifically for talented children from Almaty schools.
The main goal of the project is to popularize the English language, to develop trilingualism, to search for talented students interested in English.
Who can take part in the Olympiad?
Pupils of Y8-10 of Almaty secondary schools (state and private) can take part in the Olympiad.
Organization of the Olympiad:
Applications for the Olympiad shall be submitted from January 17 to February 17, 2019. Candidates will not be allowed to register after this date.
The Olympiad is organized and held in two stages. The first stage (online tour) will be held from 19 to 21 December 2018. The second stage will be held at Haileybury Almaty on January 11, 2018. The first (qualifying) stage:
o Online test for Y8 - Wednesday, December 19
o Online test for Y9 - Thursday, December 20
o Online test for Y10 - Friday, December 21
!!! Please, note that the first round is held online. You are not required to come to Haileybury Almaty; the test can be performed from any computer with Internet access.
Candidates with the highest scores from the first round will be invited to Haileybury Almaty for the second round. All participants of the first round will be informed of the results on Friday, February 22, 2019. Notifications for candidates who have passed to the second round will also be sent on February 22, 2019.
The second stage of the Olympiad will be held at Haileybury Almaty in period from February, 25 to February, 28 from 9.30 to 15.30.
The results will be announced at the end of the day. Winners are determined based on the total results of the participants at all stages of the Olympiad. Three best students with the highest scores in each parallel will be the winners. All winners will receive certificates and prizes from the school. The teachers who prepared the winners of the Olympiad will receive letters of thanks.
!!! Participation in the Olympiad is free.
To take part in the Olympiad, pupils must register independently, correctly specifying the required personal data, such as personal email address and mobile number.
If a pupil does not provide a personal email address and mobile number, they will not be allowed to participate in the Olympiad. Please, do not use email addresses and mobile phones of teachers to register. All registered candidates will receive detailed instructions on Friday, February 15. Information on how and where to get access for testing will be sent to the email address of each candidate.
