Haileybury Almaty Students Excel at Asian Economics Olympiad

We are delighted to share the impressive achievements of our Senior School Economics team at the 2025 Asian Economics Olympiad (AEO), a highly competitive international event that brings together the best young economists from across Asia.

Led by team captain Arnay M, the team comprised Iskander Sh, Iskander S, Zhangir M, and Alikhan Y. Representing Haileybury Almaty, they showcased exceptional performance across all three rounds of the Olympiad.

• In the first round, a challenging 50-question multiple-choice paper, the team scored an average of 178 out of 200, well above the qualification threshold.
   
• The second round tested deeper economic understanding with advanced MCQs and free-response questions. The Haileybury team ranked 2nd internationally, and Arnay was individually ranked 1st globally, a remarkable and humbling achievement.
   
• In the final round, a business case competition, the team placed in the Top 15 teams in Asia.
   

This outstanding performance reflects not only the team’s academic strength and dedication, but also the spirit of collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership that Haileybury Almaty strives to foster in all its pupils. We are incredibly proud of our young economists and look forward to seeing how they continue to grow and contribute to the global academic community.
