The Importance of Communication

In the Junior School our PSHCE Value this month is ''Communication''. We have been learning about the importance of communication and the KS1 children read a book called ''Not Now Bernard'', which tells the story of the importance of listening carefully to each other.

Our Junior children were challenged to use sign language and Makaton to show how body language can also be used to communicate. Our Junior teachers use Makaton regularly in class and the children are becoming familiar to use this way of communicating.

In addition, Year 3 have been communicating through letter writing. They wrote letters to their class mascot ''Geoffrey the Giraffe'', to tell him about their experience of online learning.

Also this month, we will be looking at the importance of friendship and how continuing to communicate with friends is essential at this difficult time.
