Last week, Haileybury Almaty hosted our annual UK Alumni Networking Evening together with the British Chamber of Commerce and the British Council.
This year, we intentionally reimagined the format — transforming the event into a mini-conference designed to bring real value to our alumni community.
The focus of this year’s discussion was:
“The Future of Talent – What Skills Global Employers Value Today.”
The evening brought together leading voices from HR, recruitment and global organisations:
✨ Anna Borovkova and Kamilya Kassimova (EY) — sharing insights on how employer expectations and talent strategies are evolving
✨ Michael Germershausen (Antal Kazakhstan) — on what employers are truly looking for and why candidates often miss it
✨ Alastair Milne (University of Cambridge / AZM Education) — on the gap between education systems and real employer needs
The discussion was expertly moderated by Nadia Trubova (British Council Kazakhstan).
Together, we explored:
✨ how global and regional labour markets are changing
✨ which skills are becoming real “career multipliers”
✨ and how professionals can stay relevant in the age of AI and constant transformation
A big thank you to all our speakers and guests — the evening turned out thoughtful, insightful and genuinely engaging.
We truly believe this format is the future of our UK Alumni Networking Evenings — more depth, more substance, more value.
And we’d love to hear from you —
what topics matter to you today?
what challenges are you facing?
Let’s continue building a space that helps our alumni navigate, grow and stay ahead.
