The first TedxYouth@HaileyburyAstana brought the spirit of TED to the school

TedxYouth@HaileyburyAstana is a pupil-organised conference that includes live speakers and is operated under a free licence of TED, a nonprofit organization whose slogan is “Ideas worth spreading.”

The inspiring event was initiated and planned out by Senior School pupils independently as Haileybury Astana education encourages leadership and global thinking in pupils.

The theme was “Forwards.” The pupils explained the choice of the theme: “In the 21st century, young students are the ones who will develop a better world and lead society forwards.”

Year 12 and 11 pupils, Alima, Sacha, and Tair, have presented their ideas on productivity, motivation, and future. The guest speakers were Ruslan Shegai, a student of Fanshawe College in Canada, Dr. Holgar Kolley from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Temirlan Ismailov, a Nazarbayev University student, Barbie Zabielsky, a medical public health assistant, and Ainur, a Haileybury graduate.

We believe that TedxYouth@HaileyburyAstana is an excellent addition to a wide range of co-curricular activities at Haileybury Astana, as the conference sparks important conversations about world issues and develops pupils’ public speaking skills.
