New Headmaster of Haileybury Astana from September 2020

New Headmaster of Haileybury Astana from September 2020

Dear Parents and Haileybury community,

On behalf of the Board of Governors of Haileybury schools in Kazakhstan, I am writing to you with important news about Haileybury Astana school in Nur-Sultan.

I am delighted to inform you that after formal interviews with a panel of Haileybury Governors, the Board has appointed Mr John Coles the position of Headmaster of Haileybury Astana as from September 2020. As you are aware, Mr Coles is currently acting Headmaster of Haileybury Almaty, and has also been a Head of department in Haileybury UK. He has also served as a deputy Headmaster for 7 years in both a Top U.K. private school and Haileybury Almaty.

The Board felt that the combination of this experience, and his knowledge of Kazakhstan made him the outstanding candidate for the role. Mr Coles has committed to an initial 5 year contract and this will allow the school, as with Haileybury Almaty under Mr Simon Mills, to undergo a period of continued stability and development.

Of course, Mr Coles will continue to be Haileybury Almaty Headmaster until the summer of 2020 when we will have the opportunity to show our thanks and gratitude for the superb work and service that he has given the school. It is clear that Mr Coles will be taking over a school in excellent health at Haileybury Astana, and all in Nur-Sultan look forward to welcoming him and his wife Sylvie, and son Louis to the City as those of us Almaty look forward to the arrival of Simon Mills.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Hunt, Chairman of the Board of Governors
