TEDxYouth@HaileyburyAstana

TedxYouth@HaileyburyAstana is a pupil-organised conference that includes live speakers and is operated under a free licence from TED, TEDx is a non profit organisation with the slogan “Ideas worth spreading.” This inspiring event is initiated and planned out by IB students independently. Haileybury Astana education encourages leadership and global thinking in pupils and this event gives the student a platform to learn and use these skills.

What is TEDxYouth? 

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talk videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussions and connections. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x stands for independently organised TED events. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

Haileybury Astana is delighted to host the third annual TEDxYouth conference on May 25th, 2024. This year's theme is ‘Lasting Impacts’  - a prompt emphasising the importance of open-mindedness, critical thinking, and sustainability. Haileybury Astana is proud to host a wide range of speakers, including successful entrepreneurs and innovators.

The theme, ‘Lasting Impacts’,  sparks meaningful conversations about the future, sharing the importance of  the lasting impacts of our actions today on the future. This year's speakers will share their thoughts and insights about what impacted them on the path to success and what imprints they hope to leave on our world.

On June 11th, 2022 Haileybury Astana hosted the second annual TEDxYouth@HaileyburyAstana conference. The event was fully organised by our IB students featuring the theme, ‘Unique’, which celebrates the differences that make us who we are. Speakers from all walks of life shared their experiences and insights with the audience.

Every person is Unique in their own way. An individual's culture, hobbies, interests, field of work, life experiences, and passion are Unique about them and Unique for them. TEDxYouth@HaileyburyAstana conference gave the opportunity to explore ideas and interests that are unique to speakers, and inspire attendees to find what makes them truly unique.

At Haileybury Astana, Sixth Form students recognise the importance of engaging in global issues as young people. They wanted to share this opportunity with those around them, giving younger students a chance to experience different perspectives. 

Last year's theme Unique encouraged all attendees to explore their own place in the world and what they personally can contribute to it.

In June 2021, Haileybury Astana pupils organized a TEDxYouth@HaileyburyAstana event under the theme of "FORWARDS”. This theme was chosen to represent the way straight to the future, overcoming all the obstacles on the way. 

During this fabulous event, three students from Haileybury Astana, Nazarbayev university students, health representatives and Dutch and German embassy representatives Andre Carstens and Holgar Kolley shared their experiences and ideas with the audience. 

We believe that TedxYouth@HaileyburyAstana is an excellent addition to a wide range of co-curricular activities at Haileybury Astana, as the conference sparks important conversations about world issues and develops pupils’ public speaking skills.
